President Paul Kagame has received Sahr Kpundeh, the outgoing World Bank Country Manager for Rwanda, for a farewell meeting as he concludes his tenure in the country.
The meeting was held Thursday evening at Village Urugwiro, where President Kagame and Kpundeh reflected on the longstanding partnership between Rwanda and the World Bank and discussed opportunities to further strengthen cooperation.
Their discussions focused on continued collaboration in support of Rwanda’s development priorities, as the country pursues efforts to accelerate economic growth, improve livelihoods and advance its national development agenda.
Kpundeh has served as the World Bank’s Country Manager for Rwanda during a period marked by continued cooperation between the government and the global development institution across key sectors of the economy.
The World Bank has remained a major development partner for Rwanda, supporting programmes aimed at strengthening human capital, infrastructure, private-sector development, social protection and economic resilience.
The farewell meeting provided an opportunity to acknowledge the partnership established during Kpundeh’s tenure and to reaffirm the importance of continued engagement between Rwanda and the World Bank.
President Kagame’s meeting with the outgoing country manager comes as Rwanda continues to work with development partners to mobilise financing, expertise and investments aligned with its long-term development priorities.
Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining and deepening the cooperation, with the World Bank expected to remain an important partner in supporting Rwanda’s development ambitions.
The meeting marked the end of Kpundeh’s tenure as World Bank Country Manager for Rwanda, while signalling the continued commitment of both sides to a strong partnership.
