Russian nuclear scientists have been redeployed at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, Interfax reported.
According to Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Russia state-owned atomic energy company Rosatom
citing the company’s Chief Executive Officer Alexey Likhachev about 42 Russian specialists are back at the plant in Iran.
“If all goes well, we’ll increase our staff to 100 people this autumn,” Alexey Likhachev said, adding that the situation at the facility is calm.
Moscow argues that the specialists back at the plant aim to keep construction and maintenance moving forward especially at Bushehr’s second and third reactor units alongside the operational first unit.
Russia and Iran signed the initial contract for the Bushehr plant back in 1995, with the first unit officially commencing operations in 2011 and subsequent units agreed upon in 2014.
