President Paul Biya, 93 Returns to his country Cameroon after over two months absent.
Biya spent 74 days in Switzerland, his longest stay outside the country since becoming president nearly 44 years ago.
According to details his arrival was telecast on state television while touching down at the airport in the capital, Yaounde, on Thursday.
Biya had left the country on June 7 for what his office described as “a brief private stay in Europe,” but it became the longest recorded absence of his presidency.
While away he left governance to key party officials and family members.
It should be noted that Cameroon’s constitution does not specifically prohibit a president from leaving the country for months.
