President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo will today (Monday ) fly to neighbouring Tanzania to attend a bilateral Summit
According to Kinshasa government, the Summit (August 17-18) is aimed at deepening economic, security, and regional cooperation between the two countries.
Details of a statement from the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation indicate that the two leaders will hold official talks on a wide range of issues related to cooperation between the two states, both of which are members of SADC.
“The discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including trade and investment, agriculture, mineral resources, energy, infrastructure and transport, health, digital communications, as well as peace, security and regional integration,” the statement said.
“This meeting should also reaffirm the commitment of the two leaders to strengthening bilateral relations, developing mutually beneficial partnerships and addressing new challenges in a spirit of friendship, solidarity and common interests,” the statement reads in part.
After the meeting, President Tshisekedi and his Tanzanian counterpart are expected to jointly address the Media.
“They will present the main results and resolutions adopted with a view to further strengthening bilateral relations between Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo,” the statement says.
Meanwhile, this is Tshisekedi’s third visit to Tanzania, following those of 2019 and 2022.
