A total of 769 young men and women have completed the 16th edition of Itorero Indangamirwa, a 40-day programme designed to equip young Rwandans with values, skills and a sense of responsibility towards the country’s future.
The participants demonstrated some of the skills and lessons acquired during the programme at the closing ceremony, including an impressive military drill and traditional combat exercises.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to investing in the country’s youth, describing them as an important foundation for Rwanda’s future.
“The Government is committed to empowering young people and building a strong foundation for Rwanda’s future,” Prime Minister Nsengiyumva said.
The Prime Minister commended the graduates for successfully completing the intensive programme and encouraged them to put the knowledge and values gained during their training into practice in their communities.
He also thanked the parents of the participants, facilitators, the Gabiro Military Training Centre, and other stakeholders who contributed to the successful implementation of the 40-day programme.
The closing ceremony provided an opportunity for the graduates to showcase their discipline, teamwork and physical abilities developed during the training.
Their demonstrations included coordinated military drills and traditional combat exercises, reflecting some of the practical aspects of the programme.
Itorero Indangamirwa forms part of Rwanda’s broader efforts to nurture responsible and patriotic young people capable of contributing to national development.
Through such programmes, participants are exposed to lessons on leadership, discipline, civic responsibility, national values and practical skills.
The completion of the 16th edition adds another group of young people to the growing number of Rwandans who have undergone the programme, with expectations that they will use their acquired knowledge and skills to contribute positively to their families, communities and the country at large.
As the 769 graduates return to their respective communities, the Government continues to place youth empowerment at the centre of efforts to prepare a capable and responsible generation to drive Rwanda’s development.
