Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff Gen. MK Mubarakh has received a delegation of senior officers and faculty members from Sri Lanka’s Defence Services Command and Staff College at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura, as the two countries seek to strengthen military and professional ties.
The Sri Lankan delegation was concluding a two-week study tour of Rwanda focused on the country’s socio-economic transformation, the evolution and transformation of the RDF, its contribution to national development, and its role in advancing regional and international peace and security.
During the meeting, Gen. Mubarakh highlighted the longstanding friendship between Rwanda and Sri Lanka, while commending the Sri Lankan Armed Forces for their contribution to the professional development of RDF personnel through training opportunities at various defence institutions in Sri Lanka.
He said study visits of this nature provide an important platform for military institutions from both countries to exchange experiences, deepen professional understanding and identify areas for stronger cooperation.
The RDF Chief of Defence Staff also emphasized that continued engagement between the two defence forces would help strengthen mutual understanding and create new opportunities for collaboration for the benefit of both institutions.
The visit comes as Rwanda continues to position the RDF not only as a national defence institution but also as a contributor to peace and security efforts at regional and international levels.
