Rwanda National Police (RNP) has launched the construction of a new Police Headquarters in the City of Kigali, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s security infrastructure and enhancing the delivery of police services.
Preparatory works, including site clearance and land grading, are currently underway at the designated construction site.
The new headquarters is expected to provide a modern, centralized facility that will improve operational efficiency, coordination among police departments, and the overall working environment for officers.
The project is part of the Government of Rwanda’s broader efforts to invest in public security infrastructure that keeps pace with the country’s rapid urbanization and socio-economic development.
As Kigali continues to expand, the new headquarters is expected to enhance the Rwanda National Police’s capacity to respond effectively to emerging security challenges while improving service delivery to residents, businesses, and visitors.
Once completed, the facility will accommodate key administrative and operational units under one roof, enabling faster decision-making, improved coordination, and more efficient deployment of police resources.
The headquarters is also expected to feature modern technology and infrastructure designed to support contemporary policing and public safety operations.
Although construction has officially begun, the Rwanda National Police has not yet announced the project’s total budget or the expected completion date.
The works are starting with earthworks and site preparation before the main construction phase begins.
The new headquarters reflects Rwanda’s continued commitment to building modern institutions capable of supporting national development, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
It also underscores the country’s ongoing investment in infrastructure aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of public service institutions.
Upon completion, the Kigali Police Headquarters is expected to become a key operational center, reinforcing Rwanda’s reputation for professional policing and contributing to the country’s long-term vision of sustainable urban development and public security.
