Sonarwa General Insurance has officially ushered in a new chapter of corporate leadership following the formal handover ceremony between outgoing Board Chairperson Iza Irame and the newly appointed Board Chairperson, Jerry Ntare.
The ceremony marked the official transition of governance at one of Rwanda’s leading non-life insurance companies, with the company reaffirming its commitment to sustained growth, innovation and delivering greater value to customers, shareholders and other stakeholders.
The leadership change comes as Rwanda’s insurance sector continues to evolve, driven by increasing insurance penetration, digital transformation and regulatory reforms aimed at strengthening the industry’s resilience and expanding financial inclusion.
Sonarwa General said the transition represents more than a change in leadership, signalling the company’s continued focus on strengthening corporate governance while pursuing strategic initiatives that will enhance service delivery and support its long-term growth ambitions.
The company expressed appreciation to Iza Irame for her leadership and contribution during her tenure, while welcoming Jerry Ntare as he assumes responsibility for guiding the Board through the next phase of the insurer’s development.
As Board Chairperson, Ntare is expected to provide strategic oversight as Sonarwa General seeks to build on its market position through innovation, customer-centric solutions and sustainable business growth.
