Thinking of installing a solar water heater at your home, restaurant, hotel, school, hospital, or any other facility? The Rwanda Energy Group has got you covered.
REG has rolled out a comprehensive support package designed to make solar water heaters accessible to everyone, removing both the technical and financial barriers that often stand in the way of going solar.
Whether you’re a homeowner looking to cut your electricity bill, a hotel manager trying to lower operating costs, or a hospital administrator managing the hot water needs of an entire facility, this initiative is built with you in mind.
At the heart of the programme is a network of six approved companies, vetted by REG to guide customers through every step of the process, from procedures and documentation to equipment access and installation.
These trusted partners are Intertech Ltd (0788519597), Kolmena Group Ltd (0783027702), Solektra Rwanda Ltd (0784042181 or 1150), Stellar Engineering Ltd (0788267679), Munyax Eco Ltd (0795290172 or 8088), and Construction E.R.F (0787523778 or 0788518439).
Whichever company you choose to work with, you’ll receive expert guidance tailored to your specific needs.
Perhaps the most compelling part of this initiative is the interest-free loan subsidy that REG is offering to ease the financial burden of installation.
For solar water heaters with flat plate collectors, the available loans are 1,300,000 Rwf for a 300 litre tank, 1,100,000 Rwf for a 200 litre tank, and 1,050,000 Rwf for a 150 litre tank.
For solar water heaters with evacuated tube collectors, the loans are 779,095 Rwf for a 300 litre tank, 641,035 Rwf for a 200 litre tank, and 586,755 Rwf for a 150 litre tank.
With no interest attached, these loans make it far easier for households and businesses alike to make the switch without straining their budgets.
This support extends well beyond individual homes. Hotels and restaurants with high hot water demand stand to gain significant long-term savings, while schools and hospitals can meet the needs of large facilities more sustainably and affordably.
In short, any institution that relies on a steady supply of hot water can benefit from this programme.
