Rwanda has interested American investors with opportunities in the country’s mining sector.
Alice Uwase, the CEO of Rwanda Mines, Petroleum and Gas Board on Wednesday shared Rwanda’s mining capacity with a select group of American investors during the US-Africa investment forum on critical minerals.

According to those inside the meeting, specific focus was on Rwanda’s potential around the 3Ts with particular interest on Tungsten.
Rwanda is Africa’s leading producer of Tungsten, a strategic mineral critical for modern technology.
Rwanda produces between 1,200 and 1,500 tonnes of tungsten (wolframite) annually. This production is anchored by the Nyakabingo Mine in the Rulindo District, which is the largest tungsten-producing mine on the continent.
Details also show that Rwanda’s tungsten makes its way into the highly sensitive US defense and aerospace supply chains through multi-year offtake agreements with manufacturers like Global Tungsten and Powders (GTP).
Rwanda is currently implementing a ambitious expansion on Nyakabingo processing plant with the goal of tripling the country’s annual tungsten output, pushing production from 1,100 tonnes to roughly 3,000 tonnes by 2027.
