Rwandan tour operators and travel agents are taking part in the 2026 edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo in Kampala, Uganda, using the regional platform to market Rwanda’s tourism experiences and strengthen East Africa’s growing multi-destination travel agenda.
The three-day tourism expo, running from May 21 to 23, has brought together tourism boards, airlines, tour operators, travel buyers, hospitality companies, media organizations, and other travel trade stakeholders from across Africa and international markets.
Rwanda’s delegation is using the event to showcase the country’s tourism offerings, including gorilla trekking, luxury hospitality, meetings and conferences tourism, cultural experiences, conservation tourism, sports tourism, and domestic travel opportunities.
The participation also reflects broader regional efforts to position East Africa as a seamless tourism destination where travelers can explore multiple countries under integrated travel packages.
Industry players say such cooperation is increasingly important as regional governments and tourism stakeholders seek to attract more international visitors and increase tourism revenues.
The expo provides Rwandan travel businesses with an opportunity to establish partnerships with international buyers, airlines, and investors while expanding business-to-business engagements within the tourism sector.
Regional tourism exhibitions such as the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo have become increasingly important in promoting cross-border tourism, improving destination visibility, and encouraging collaboration among East African tourism operators.
Rwanda has in recent years intensified efforts to position itself as a premium tourism and conference destination through initiatives linked to the Rwanda Development Board and the country’s broader Visit Rwanda campaign.
