Rwanda has reaffirmed its commitment to global climate action and sustainable development during the 2026 GGGI–GCF Joint Conference and Friends of GGGI Luncheon held in Seoul, South Korea, under the theme “Partnering for Ambitious Global Climate Action.”
The high-level gathering brought together senior government officials, diplomats, international organizations, and climate finance leaders to discuss the growing urgency of international cooperation in addressing climate change and accelerating green growth across developing economies.
The event was chaired by Ban Ki-moon, President of the Assembly and Chair of the Council of Global Green Growth Institute, and included the participation of the Vice Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Korea.
Representing Rwanda at the conference, Ambassador Nkubito Manzi Bakuramutsa said the discussions highlighted “the urgent need to strengthen global partnerships, accelerate climate finance, and support sustainable green growth across developing economies.”
Ambassador Bakuramutsa noted that climate resilience and sustainable development can no longer be addressed by countries acting independently, stressing that international cooperation remains essential in responding to global environmental challenges.
“Rwanda remains committed to advancing climate resilience, green investment, and sustainable development through strong international cooperation and innovative partnerships,” he said.
Participants at the conference emphasized the importance of ambitious global collaboration, particularly in supporting developing nations through climate financing, sustainable infrastructure investment, and green economic transformation.
The discussions also reflected the growing significance of cooperation between African countries and Asian partners in areas such as technology transfer, climate adaptation, and sustainable development financing.
Rwanda has increasingly positioned itself as an active voice in international climate and development conversations, with the country continuing to promote policies focused on environmental protection, green growth, and long-term resilience.
