Russia-China’s Joint U$200Billion Projects Get Boost From Putin, Xi Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in Beijing triggered closer monitoring by the West as the two leaders met.

According to analysts knowledgeable with the limitless cooperation between Russia and China, this meeting provides a significant impetus to the implementation of joint Russian-Chinese initiatives.

“The visit of the Russian President, the signed agreements and the thorough, in-depth dialogue that took place these days will undoubtedly give a tangible impetus to the implementation of joint initiatives,” said, Denis Manturov Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister.

He added that the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission on Investment Cooperation includes 89 projects worth over U$200 billion in sectors such as metallurgy, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, forestry, agriculture, transport and logistics, and trade.

Manturov noted that the countries also successfully cooperate in nuclear energy and space exploration.

President Putin wrapped up his official two-day visit to China on Wednesday.

He and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, issued a joint statement on strengthening comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation and the Joint Declaration on the Emergence of a Multipolar World and a New Type of International Relations.

In the statement, the two leaders condemned provocative actions of some nuclear powers against others, called for removing the root causes of the Ukraine crisis, and expressed the position of China and Russia that the US and Israeli strikes on Iran undermine stability in the Middle East.
