The AFC/M23 rebels have demanded the Kinshasa government to lift all judicial sanctions against it’s leaders and reopen Banks.

The government has also demanded for the reopening of Goma International airport, however, the AFC/M23 have refused.

Kinshasa has responded with drone strikes but due to poor coordination the drones instead targeted positions of government troops.

A CH-4 combat drone launched from Bujumbura, bombed positions held by FARDC troops and Burundian allies, killing hundreds of soldiers, including five colonels, in an operation intended to target AFC/M23 rebels and Twirwaneho fighters, a military source said.

“Among the dead were five colonels including Col. Etienne Kalumuna Mishabira, the commander of the 3303rd Regiment,” a source familiar with the incident said.
