Burundians are engulfed in utter shock and panic following the brutal Murder of the country’s Communication and Information Minister, Gabby Bugaga.
On the night of Wednesday (April 15), Minister Bugaga was summarily shot dead in Kivoga neighbourhood in Bujumbura province.
The military style execution has triggered speculation and concern.
According to preliminary reports, Bugaga was traveling under security escort when he came under attack by unidentified assailants.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities have yet to provide an official account of what happened.
Conflicting claims have circulated online in the hours since his death.
Some social media reports suggest the incident may have been linked to a traffic accident, while others point to the possibility of a targeted attack or a broader conspiracy.
None of these claims have been independently verified.
Government officials have not yet issued a definitive statement clarifying the cause of death, leaving many questions unanswered about the events leading up to the minister’s killing.
An investigation is expected to shed more light on the incident as security agencies work to determine whether Bugaga’s death was accidental or the result of a deliberate attack.
The death of a senior government official under such uncertain circumstances is likely to heighten public attention and intensify calls for transparency as Burundi awaits answers.
