In a significant move to strengthen economic relations, the Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board, Jean-Guy Afrika, today welcomed a high-level delegation from the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency, led by its Executive Director, Yusif Abdullayev.
The discussions, held in Kigali, focused on advancing trade, investment, and strategic partnerships, highlighting the commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral economic cooperation.
Speaking after the meeting, Jean-Guy Afrika noted Rwanda’s readiness to attract and facilitate investment from Azerbaijan.
“We see strong potential in building a dynamic partnership with Azerbaijan, particularly in areas such as logistics, tourism, energy, and agribusiness.
Rwanda offers a stable, business-friendly environment, and we are ready to support Azerbaijani investors looking to expand into Africa,” he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Yusif Abdullayev emphasized Azerbaijan’s interest in strengthening trade relations and leveraging Rwanda’s strategic location in Africa.
“Azerbaijan is keen to expand its footprint in Africa, and Rwanda stands out as a reliable and forward-looking partner. We are committed to facilitating connections between our private sectors and exploring joint ventures that deliver mutual value,” he added.
The engagement underscored key benefits for both countries.
For Rwanda, enhanced trade relations with Azerbaijan could open new export markets, attract foreign investment, and accelerate technology and knowledge transfer, particularly in tourism, infrastructure, and energy sectors.
For Azerbaijan, Rwanda provides a strategic gateway to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), enabling access to a rapidly growing market.
This partnership also allows Azerbaijani businesses to diversify investments, expand trade routes, and explore collaboration opportunities across East and Central Africa.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to turning dialogue into actionable partnerships, marking a promising step forward in Rwanda–Azerbaijan economic relations.
