Two Rwandans Named Among Most Influential African Women in Sports

Nelly Mukazayire, Rwanda’s Sports Minister and Clare AKamanzi the Chief Executive Officer ofNBA Africa have been named among the 2025 Honorees of the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports.

Announced by the Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG), the awards recognise, celebrate, and elevate the African women who have taken center stage, breaking barriers and reshaping the global sports landscape.

Every honoree’s story highlights perseverance, innovation, and the desire to advance sports for the next generation, from Olympic tracks and football pitches to boardrooms, newsrooms, and community academies.

The 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports is a platform dedicated to honoring their contributions, amplifying their voices, and inspiring the next generation.

ASVG has confirmed that the 2026 Edition of the Awards will take place in Dakar, Senegal, alongside the Youth Olympic Games.

Kenyan Women leading On the Continent

Kenyan women dominate the awards recognized for their outstanding contributions to sports leadership, development, and storytelling.

The 2025 Awards process included months of nominations, continental voting, and leadership workshops featuring partners such as G100 and Women Africa Sport Network.

These initiatives created a vibrant platform for mentoring, skill-building, and collaboration among hundreds of influential women across Africa.
