About fifteen members of the UN Security Council are expected in DRC’s capital Kinshasa early March (from 9-12) according to the Congolese government.
The forthcoming visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by fifteen members of the UN Security Council was at the center of discussions, Wednesday in Kinshasa, between the Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign Affairs, Christophe Lutundula and a delegation from MONUSCO led by its leader, Bintou Keita.
“I must say that they will be fifteen; there will be two experts from the Council, five members of the secretariat in New York, three security officers and three media who will accompany the delegation, and they will be joined by the collaborators who are on the ground”, said the head of MONUSCO and representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in the DRC.
“these members of the Security Council will have an extremely tight schedule with on-site visits to Kinshasa, and a trip to the East, particularly to Goma, where they will take a certain number of commitments,” said the representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations.
