We usually don’t see non singers people in Rwanda release songs, be it producers, advertisers, journalists, comedians, you name it; but you certainly know the names like Dj Khaled, Calvin Harris, David Guetta and others in America.
That’s not the case for Iradukunda Zizou also known as Dj Zizou Al Pacino. This Rwandan music producer, advertiser, Businessman and Managing Director of Monster Records Studio finds his joy in making songs on his own which he features with “All stars” or most of them but you can’t hear him singing in any of these songs.
As many might think, he doesn’t do this just for fun. Even if it might not give him much money, he told Taarifa it strengthens his name and brand as Dj Zizou Al Pacino.
“It built my name and brand as Dj Zizou Al Pacino and helps me do my other businesses. It also builds friendship which is very important in my career,” he says.
He started it in 2011, he said, with the intention to find his particularity and make the difference among many other producers in the industry. He started with the song “Urwandiko”, his first ever song.
For many artists today, Dj Zizou’s songs became the be-all and end-all of their career, and his songs like “Arambona agaseka”, “Vuba vuba”, “Fata fata”, “Niko nabaye”, “Bagupfusha ubusa” and “Wimfatanya n’isi” became the bridge for many artists we know today like Teta Diana, Socila Mula, TNP, Priscilla, Ama G The Black and many more.
“I always have the ideas for songs but as I’m not a singer, I thought about gathering artists in “my ideal songs”. That’s how I started.” Said Dj Zizou Al Pacino.
A little bird told us that it was Riderman and Safi Madiba’s idea, Dj Zizou’s old friends, when they were in Ibisumizi Studio; Riderman told Safi Madiba: “Let’s make a song and call it Dj Zizou’s.” that’s when “Urwandiko” came.
Today, every artist dreams about being in Dj Zizou’s songs, but curiously when he started some “few” artists, as he said, refused to participate in his songs because of their management team.
Dj Zizou is making a mixtape of all his songs, a mixtape he named “5/5 Experience”; and “Karibu Nyumbani” ought to be the first song of this mixtape which is gonna be followed by “Iyo byanze” and “Ubanza nkuze” by the end of this year.
Artists like Amalon, Bruce Melody, Uncle Austin and Riderman are some among others in this song.
This song is about a young man who in the beginning seemed, by fear, to not reveal his origin to the lady he felt in love with but at the end he decided to show her his origin.
