A delegation of more than 25 Zimbabwean business people is in Rwanda to explore investment opportunities. They visited RSE (Rwanda Stock Exchange).
Archie Dongo, chairperson of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Harare branch told Taarifa that; “We are basically in Rwanda to explore business opportunities between Rwandan business and Zimbabwean business.”
“We thought we would come and see the Rwanda Stock Exchange because in modern economics the stock exchange reflects what is going on in the economy, and it reflects the performance of the economy,” Dongo said.
He also said that the Rwanda Stock Exchange is a good barometer of what has been happening in the economy and Rwanda has been topping on the ease of doing business rankings.
“One of the opportunities available to Zimbabwean business people is to invest on the stock exchange. So we just wanted to get a feel for how the operations are going and believe it the feel in your stock exchange is very ambitious from what we hear,” he added.
According to Pierre Celestin Rwabukumba The RSE, CEO, Rwanda Stock Exchange has opportunities for people to invest in.
He explained that both sides will benefit from each other, but for RSE, these guests are a blessing. When they are interested, they may end up being engaged with their market by buying shares and bonds in their market products that are available.
“With a delegation like that from Zimbabwe learning from Rwanda, we are learning from each other. The best practices we have can also apply in their markets. We are looking for more people bringing money into Rwanda through our existing companies,” Rwabukumba said.
Meanwhile, within few days in Rwanda some of these Zimbabwean business people have had exchanges between businesses and have started signing deals.
While in Rwanda, these Zimbabwean business people will also have a tour of the special economic area and visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial to understand the context within which Rwanda is developing now.
