Wife of the slain leader of the Islamic terrorist group has been arrested, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced Wednesday.
“We arrested Baghdadi’s wife,” the Turkish president said, without giving a name, date or exact location for the arrest.
Tayyip Erdogan simply added that it took place in Syria and that Turkey had also arrested a sister of the head of the Islamic State group and his brother-in-law, without again specifying whether it was a single and same operation.
In late October 2019 ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed by US commandos in a operation in Syria, a few kilometers from the Turkish border.
President Erdogan says that Ankara had played no role in the operation against al-Baghdadi and was only informed at the last minute.
The Americans neutralized Baghdadi … then they made a communication campaign,” complained the Turkish president. Before adding, about the arrest of the wife of the late leader of the group: “We, we did not make any history”. It’s done now
