After ten years of pin drop silence over the assassination of a Congolese human rights activist Floribert Chebeya (pictured above), his widow has come out strongly demanding for justice.
Annie Chebeya made the demands on Tuesday during an interview with Radio France Internationale (RFI).
She accuses two big names including former Inspector General of Police and President Joseph Kabange Kabila saying they are ultimately responsible for assassination of her husband.
“Today is a great day, the truth that I and the children were always waiting for, the truth that we were looking for so that we could know what really happened, today we just listened to this. It is for the first time that I can listen to all these names, that all these assassins are arrested, John Numbi had done it on purpose to leave the General Inspectorate because he knew he had already given the order to ‘murder my husband,’ said Annie Chebeya.
She asks the Congolese justice to restart the trial from zero and at the same time wants the former Inspector General of Police John Numbi and the former Head of State Joseph Kabila to be all arrested.
“I ask the Congolese justice because I have already written through my lawyers, that we can start the trial from zero because John Numbi must be arrested and then Joseph Kabila because they are cited. The truth has just come out, what are they going to tell us again? ”She said.
In addition, Annie Chebeya has appealed to President Félix Tshisekedi to order the courts to resume the trial.
“I ask the President, I know that he cannot interfere in the affairs of justice, but please President of the Republic please order it has been 10 years that we waited for this truth … ”, the widow says.
It should be recalled that on June 2nd, 2010, the head of the NGO Voix des Sans Voix, Floribert Chebeya, was assassinated and his body was found in Mitendi on the outskirts of Kinshasa, while his driver, Fidèle Bazana, is missing to this day.
