Wharton MBA Students Visit Rwanda to Learn Leadership and Transformation Lessons

A delegation of MBA students from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, led by Professor Katherine Klein and Eric Kacou, visited the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) today as part of their 11th Global Modular Course titled “Conflict, Leadership, and Change: Lessons from Rwanda.”

RDB CEO Jean-Guy Afrika and his management team hosted the group, which is in Rwanda to study the country’s remarkable journey from the devastation of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to its emergence as a model of economic growth, stability, and innovation.

During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions on Rwanda’s governance strategies, inclusive development policies, and transformative leadership, which have been pivotal in fostering unity and driving sustainable progress.

“This course offers a unique opportunity for our students to understand how a nation can rebuild and thrive in the face of adversity,” said Professor Katherine Klein. “Rwanda’s progress is a testament to the power of visionary leadership and resilience.”

Eric Kacou, co-leader of the delegation, highlighted the significance of Rwanda’s achievements, stating, “The lessons from Rwanda resonate far beyond its borders, providing valuable insights into leadership, innovation, and conflict resolution.”

The Wharton School’s Global Modular Courses are designed to immerse students in critical global issues through experiential learning. Rwanda’s transformation serves as a powerful case study for understanding the interplay between leadership, governance, and sustainable development.

This visit is part of a broader initiative to inspire the next generation of global leaders by examining real-world examples of overcoming adversity and fostering inclusive growth.
