President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of DRC said on Friday that inter-ethnic conflicts are to be resolved through dialogue.
He made the remark during the 19th meeting of the Council of Ministers held in Kisangani.
According to Tshisekedi, the forum dubbed Tshopo Province Peace Forum, discussions will focus on the Mbole-Lengola inter-ethnic conflict.
It should also be noted that the Tshopo province also has conflicts with other neighboring provinces, namely: Maniema, Haut-Uele, Bas-Uele, Tshuapa and Ituri, the President noted.
He welcomed the consultations initiated by the Government through the Minister of the Interior to find a lasting solution and restore the authority of the State, peace, reconciliation and development between the different communities of Tshopo.
The province has suffered insecurity from armed groups in the territory of Bafwasende.
According to the Honorable Grace Neema, Deputy Quaestor of the National Assembly, “We spoke to him about security as well as infrastructure in our region and the President reassured us of his personal involvement in finding a solution as soon as possible.”
In Kisangani, President Félix Tshisekedi inaugurated on Saturday, the Bangoka international airport. This airport will become the second largest in the country after the airport of N’djili, in Kinshasa.
