Reports from South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo reveal that College students are preparing for a massive demonstration on Tuesday to demand for reopening of schools.
According to sources, the demonstration will sweep through Bukavu city.
In a statement, the students of South Kivu through their provincial college, say they are perturbed by decisions taken by the Congolese authorities postponing to a later date the resumption of studies in higher and university institutions.
“The students of the province of South Kivu, the pupils and the parents feel so aggrieved by the scope of the decisions of the public authorities rejecting the resumption of teaching in universities and schools, deliberately deviating from the demands dictated by the current reality that our population is going through ”, the press release reads in part.
For Ushindi Kazine Roméo, provincial representative of the students of South Kivu, the gathering of the demonstrators will take place in place of independence and a memorandum addressed to the President will be deposited with the provincial governor at the end of the march. .
