Today, senior officials from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) visited the MINUSCA Force Headquarters in the Central African Republic, following a meeting with Rwandan peacekeepers (RWANBATT 2) in Bossembele. The delegation was led by RDF Army Chief of Staff Major General Vincent Nyakarundi and included Defence Spokesperson Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, Director of Training Lieutenant Colonel Laurent Kabutura, as well as the contingent commanders of Rwandan forces operating in the country.
During the visit, MINUSCA Force Commander Lieutenant General Humphrey Nyone expressed his appreciation for the outstanding contribution of Rwandan peacekeepers in implementing their mandate. The high-level meeting underscored the pivotal role played by these forces in maintaining security and stability in the region.
In a subsequent visit to the RWANBATT 2 headquarters, Major General Nyakarundi conveyed a message from His Excellency President Paul Kagame, the Commander-in-Chief of the RDF. The message extended heartfelt thanks to the peacekeepers for their efforts in contributing to peace and stability in the host country.
RWANBATT 2 continues to carry out essential operations, such as securing the primary supply route connecting Bangui and Cameroon, conducting continuous day and night patrols, and implementing various community outreach programs. These initiatives include community work (Umuganda) and the provision of free medical services, all aimed at improving the well-being of the local population.
This visit reaffirms Rwanda’s commitment to international peacekeeping efforts and its ongoing collaboration with MINUSCA to foster lasting peace and stability in the Central African Republic.
