The Indonesian government has invited Rwanda to participate in the forthcoming 2nd Indonesia-Africa forum scheduled for 3-4 September 2024 in Bali.
“I mentioned that Indonesia hold the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum and we invite participation of Rwanda. I am so glad that Minister Biruta had confirmed Rwanda’s participation to the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum,” Retno Marsudi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia said on Thursday.
Indonesia is also scheduled to hos the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia in BSD City, Banten on 9-12 October 2024.
The Asia country encourages Rwanda and other African countries to attend both events with the purpose to enhance economic cooperation especially trade and investment.
In 2022, President Paul Kagame attended the G20 Summit convened in Indonesia and had discussions with President President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
During their talks, President Kagame conveyed the plan to open Rwanda Embassy in Indonesia and today it will be inaugurated.
“Our visit to Indonesia also provides the opportunity to officially open the Embassy of Rwanda in Jakarta. This embassy is a statement to our enduring friendship and will serve as a vital link in enhancing bilateral relations facilitating diplomatic engagements and providing services to our citizens. It also symbolizes our dedication to establishing a robust presence in Indonesia and furthering our diplomatic engagement in the region,” said Vincent Biruta Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“I encourage ASEAN-African relations to continue to be strengthened,” President Kagame said.
President Jokowi also proposed the establishment of the Indonesia-Rwanda Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and cooperation in oil and gas mining exploration.
