Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. MK Mubarakh, participated in the EAC-SADC Senior Officials Meeting held at the Parliament Building in Harare, Zimbabwe. He was accompanied by the Special Operations Forces Commander and the Head of Defence Intelligence.
The high-level meeting focused on preparing the agenda for the upcoming Joint EAC-SADC Ministers Meeting scheduled for March 17, 2025. Key discussions included reviewing the report of the Joint Meeting of the Chiefs of Defence on the ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, as well as the establishment of a Secretariat-level Technical Coordination Mechanism to oversee the implementation of decisions made by the Joint Summit.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by regional blocs to enhance security cooperation and ensure the effective implementation of peace agreements in conflict-affected areas. The participation of senior military officials underscores the importance of coordinated strategies in addressing security challenges within the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
