Rwanda and Tunisia Explore Stronger Bilateral Ties Amid Regional Tensions

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe, held a phone conversation with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional security challenges.

The discussion focused on expanding cooperation between Rwanda and Tunisia in various sectors while also touching on the ongoing conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“I briefed him on the conflict in eastern DRC, and we discussed ways to reinforce our bilateral relations,” Minister Nduhungirehe stated.

The Great Lakes region continues to face security instability, with Rwanda playing an active diplomatic role in seeking peaceful solutions. Tunisia, a key North African player, has expressed interest in deepening its engagement with Rwanda across multiple areas, including trade, investment, and security cooperation.

While details of the proposed collaborations remain undisclosed, the conversation signals growing diplomatic ties between the two nations at a time when Rwanda is actively expanding its international partnerships.
