Three people died instantly on Wednesday after Russian forces struck with X-59 guided missile into Ukraine’s second largest city Kharkiv.
“Russians shelled Kharkiv,” Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the investigative department of Kharkiv’s police, said on social media. “Three people died, five were wounded, a large-scale fire broke out”.
The strike resulted in significant damage, including to a private enterprise, a five-storey residential building, and a car, as confirmed by the Interior Ministry.
Serhiy Bolvinov, the head of the investigative department of the regional police specified that the struck facilities included “an ordinary printing house, a workshop for the production of furniture and paint products,” with several employees injured, two of whom are in critical condition.
The State Emergency Service revealed that a fire broke out at the enterprise, consuming an area of two thousand square meters.
X-59 guided missile
The X-59 medium-range tactical missile is designed to engage small ground targets, the coordinates of which are determined before the launch of the missile.
X-59 missile was first demonstrated at the Air Show in Dubai in 1991.
In the west, X-59 was designated AS-13 “Kingbolt”.
