The Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested Ndungutse Leon, the Director of Public Works in Nyaruguru District, and Amahe Arthur, the district’s Social Welfare Officer. Both are suspected of complicity in embezzlement and falsification of documents.
The two officials are accused of embezzling 3,308,000 Rwandan francs, funds allocated for monitoring VUP (Vision Umurenge Program) activities across 12 sectors in Nyaruguru District. They are currently detained at Kibeho RIB Station while their case is being processed for submission to the Prosecution.
RIB has issued a warning to public officials responsible for managing public funds, urging them to comply with the law and emphasizing that violations will not be tolerated.
“RIB remains firm in its duty to investigate and hold accountable those involved in such crimes,” the agency stated.
