Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday joined the family, friends, relatives and close acquaintances of the late former President Daniel Toroitich arap Moi at Kabarak in Nakuru County for a remembrance service to mark one year since the 2nd President of the Republic of Kenya passed on.
Uhuru in his remarks said service with humility is what made Moi who he was. He asked other political leaders to emulate Moi’s character and dedicate themselves to service.
“The arrogance that we see in today’s leadership raises many questions as to the future of this country and I will plead to my fellow leaders that there is no person bigger than the other,” he said.
He said there were people who had built Kenya with sweat and blood and urged those seeking power to do so with respect.
Uhuru warned the electorate against voting in “a demolition squad”. “Wenzangu, tusiteleze tulete demolition squad badala ya wajenzi,” he said. (Let us not slide into demolition squad instead of builders).
