Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, Spokesperson for the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), participated in a panel discussion focusing on the RDF’s role in tackling moral injury in conflict situations. The event was organized by the Dallaire Institute for Children, Peace & Security as part of activities commemorating the International Day Against the Use of Children in Armed Conflict.
During the conference—titled “Grave Violations against Children & Beyond: Trends, Emerging Threats, & Pathways for Action”—experts, military officials, and child protection advocates explored pressing issues related to children in conflict zones. Brig Gen Rwivanga highlighted the RDF’s approach to preventing child recruitment, mitigating trauma, and strengthening post-conflict support systems.
Attendees underscored the urgent need for coordinated global efforts to safeguard children’s rights in war-torn regions. The discussions also touched on emerging threats to child protection and potential strategies for building resilience within affected communities
