President Faustin-Archange Touadéra yesterday held high-level discussions with a visiting Rwandan military delegation, reinforcing the deepening defence cooperation between Rwanda and the Central African Republic (CAR). The meeting, attended by CAR’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Zéphirin Mamadou, focused on reviewing ongoing military collaboration and future training initiatives within the framework of CAR’s security sector reform agenda.
The Rwandan delegation, led by RDF Army Chief of Staff Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, included Defence Spokesperson Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga and the Director of the RDF Training Department, Lt Col L. Kabutura. Their visit underscores Rwanda’s long-standing commitment to supporting stability in CAR through military training and peacekeeping efforts.
As part of the visit, the delegation will attend the pass-out ceremony of the 3rd Cohort of Central African Armed Forces (FACA) personnel trained by RDF in Bangui on 7 March. They will also visit Rwandan troops stationed in CAR, both under the bilateral military cooperation framework and as part of the UN peacekeeping mission.
Rwanda remains a key partner in CAR’s efforts to professionalize its military and strengthen national security. The growing partnership between the two nations reflects a broader regional commitment to sustainable peace and capacity building in Africa.
