This evening, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres will join thousands of global leaders and football fans at Al Bayt Stadium for the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
According to the Qatar news agency, President Kagame arrived in Doha this morning.
“His Excellency and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at Hamad International Airport by HE Director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim bin Yousef Fakhro, and HE Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to Qatar Igor Marara Kayinamura,” the official news agency said.
Guterres, upon arrival on Saturday at Hamad International Airport in Doha was welcomed by Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, Director of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ibrahim bin Youssef Fakhro, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Representative for the Gulf States and Yemen and Director of the UNESCO Regional Office in Doha, Salah El Din Zaki Khaled.
