President Kagame Engages in High-Level Discussions on Security, Science, and Development

President Paul Kagame’s Friday was packed with a series of key meetings at Urugwiro Village, engaging with leaders in security, science, and economic development.

In a discussion centered on regional security, Kagame met with U.S. Congressman Dr. Ronny Jackson, the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee on Intelligence and Special Operations.

Their talks focused on ongoing cooperation between Rwanda and the United States in efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Rwanda has remained a key player in peacekeeping and counterinsurgency efforts in Africa, making the meeting crucial for strengthening bilateral security ties.

Earlier in the day, Kagame welcomed a delegation from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS), led by Professor Neil Turok, the founder and Chairman of the AIMS International Governing Board. Their discussions revolved around expanding training, research, and engagement in mathematical sciences within Rwanda.

AIMS has played a pivotal role in advancing STEM education across Africa, and the meeting highlighted new opportunities to enhance Rwanda’s role as a regional hub for scientific excellence.

Additionally, Kagame met with Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and a candidate for the African Development Bank (AfDB) presidency. Dr. Tah also delivered a message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani.

The discussions underscored BADEA’s commitment to economic development initiatives in Africa and Rwanda’s role in fostering stronger financial partnerships on the continent.

These meetings reflect Rwanda’s multifaceted approach to international relations, balancing security collaboration, scientific advancement, and economic development to bolster its role as a leader in Africa.
