President Kagame on Wednesday evening arrived in Doha, Qatar for a two-days visit, where he will hold discussions with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The two heads of state last met on September 24, 2018 in a conference in New York, when they attended the 73th United Nations’ General Assembly.
Their discussions rotated around facilitating and promoting the relationship between the two countries and investment in various sectors.
The Qatar leader also talked with President Kagame on regional and international issues, and Qatar’s role in promoting peace and security in AU member countries.
On February 18, 2018 , President Kagame met with Qatari Foreign Affairs Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani in Munich, Germany.
They discussed the cooperation between the two countries.
In May 2017, Rwanda and Qatar signed a diplomatic agreement.
Qatar Airways also operates flights between Doha and Kigali and other destinations including Dubai.
On May 26, 2015, both countries signed an agreement on the fight against drug abuse.
It was coincided with a forum on issues related to drug distribution (Qatar International Anti-Drug Forum) in Doha.
It was implemented towards the end of 2014 and before, there had been cases of drug dealers some of whom were nabbed in Rwanda and had transited at Doha International Airport in Qatar from South America.
