This morning, Ambassador-designate of the Russian Federation to Rwanda, H.E. Alexander Polyakov, formally presented his Letters of Credence to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe.
The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kigali, marks the official commencement of Ambassador Polyakov’s duties in Rwanda. During the meeting, Amb. Nduhungirehe and Ambassador Polyakov engaged in discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between Rwanda and Russia.
The two diplomats underscored the importance of deepening cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, education, and cultural exchanges. They expressed mutual interest in exploring new opportunities for collaboration that would benefit both nations.
Amb. Nduhungirehe welcomed the new Russian envoy, affirming Rwanda’s commitment to further enhancing the partnership with Russia. He highlighted the existing strong ties between the two countries and expressed optimism about the potential for increased cooperation under Ambassador Polyakov’s tenure.
Ambassador Polyakov, in turn, conveyed Russia’s readiness to work closely with Rwanda to build on the existing foundation of friendship and cooperation. He noted that the Russian government is keen on exploring avenues to expand bilateral trade and investment, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss regional and global issues of common concern, further solidifying the diplomatic relationship between Rwanda and Russia.
As Ambassador Polyakov assumes his new role, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continue fostering a robust and mutually beneficial partnership that aligns with the broader goals of both nations.
