MTN Rwanda Suspends Advertising

Covid-19 pandemic has virtually disrupted every business in Rwanda and could not leave out the telecoms although they have kept their revenue figures in the past six months tightly guarded.

“We are going to suspend commercial advertising for the four weeks,” MTN Rwanda said in a statement on Monday. The telecom company also said this was part of navigating the ‘New Normal’,  “MTN is committing its September 2020 marketing resources to support efforts against Covid-19 in markets the telecom operates.” At the beginning of August, MTN joined Rwanda Biomedical Centre and the Rwanda National Police in raising awareness of the importance of Covid-19 preventive measures.

“If we are going to win a war against Covid-19, we shall need to work together to change behaviours, protect each other and flatten the curve faster,” said MTN Rwanda Chief Executive Officer, Mitwa Ng’ambi.
