What began as somber day for relatives, friends and mourners at the burial of slain former critical police officer turned ugly when Internal Affairs minister and the Police spokesperson arrived at the burial site.
Gen Jeje Odongo the Minister for Internal Affairs was booed and pelted with stones even before disembarking from his car. The angry mourners so irritated with uncontrolled ongoing executions in the country did not want any government official at the burial.
The assassination on Saturday of controversial senior police officer Muhammad Kirumira has ignited an atmosphere of anxiety among Ugandans who have been recently engaged in back and forth protests against the torture of pop star legislator Robert Kyagulanyi known by his stage name Bobi Wine.
Kirumira known for his tough stance and exposure of organized criminality within the Ugandan Police force was gunned down by men on motorcycle.
At the burial site, angry mourners forced Minister Odongo to leave including the police spokesperson Emilian Kayima- they were pelted with stones and whisked away by their guards into waiting vehicles.
