AFC/M23 rebels have reportedly captured Ndoluma after intense fighting against the Congolese troops (FRDC) early on Tuesday.
Frontline details indicate that the congolese troops were overpowered effectively withdrawing from Mutongo, Mambasa and Kanyambi.
“Several residents were seen fleeing their homes to avoid being targeted by Wazalendo militia and being caught in the crossfire,” a source told Taarifa adding, the displaced fled in the direction of Lubero-centre and Butembo.
Intense fighting has been reported in the direction of Kitsombiro, where the Congolese army has retreated.
“They are overflowing and going around the military positions, and are coming from the farms to end up behind the positions of the Congolese army. Clearly the rebels have taken time to study the relief of the area,” said a notable from Kitsombiro, the target of the rebels.
The M23 fighters have also launched a tough offensive on several fronts including Lubero, in Alimbongo, where Wazalendo militia group is reportedly stationed on the hills overlooking Vutsorovya, Tchulo and Mambasa, in the direction of Butembo.
