Young people from across Kigali City gathered at the Gasabo District Conference Hall to discuss Rwandan heroism as part of the Kigali Youth Festival 2025. The event marked the conclusion of the Isangano ry’Urubyiruko (Youth Gathering) initiative, a month-long celebration during which youth engaged in activities promoting development and community well-being.
Addressing the gathering, Col. Désiré Migambi Mungamba took the youth through Rwanda’s history of heroism, emphasizing its significance from the country’s early expansion era to modern times. He reminded them of their role in shaping the future.
“You are the Rwanda of tomorrow. You are the future leaders. Much has been achieved—our country’s development, good governance, and more. You have a strong foundation to build on so that we can all contribute to a better future,” he said.
Urujeni Martine, the Deputy Mayor of Kigali in charge of Economic Development and Social Affairs, praised the youth for their involvement in activities throughout the month. She encouraged them to lead by example in their communities.
“Youth, you have a responsibility to uphold security because security is not just the duty of those officially assigned to it—it is everyone’s responsibility. Loving your country is not just about saying it, but about taking tangible actions that benefit its people,” she said.
The Kigali Youth Festival 2025 will officially conclude with a concert honoring Rwanda’s heroes, organized by Kigali City in partnership with Intwarizubaha Rwanda. The event will take place on January 31, 2025, at KCEV (Camp Kigali) from 5:00 PM, bringing together various artists, including Army Band, Ruti Joel, Urukerereza, Indatirwabahizi, Ariel Wayz, and others.
Authorities expressed optimism that the festival has instilled a deeper understanding of heroism among the youth, ensuring they carry forward the values of patriotism and national pride as Rwanda continues to thrive in peace and development.
