Pastor Nkundabandi Jean Damascene one of the top leaders of Ebenezer church in Rwanda may have just begun fighting a protracted battle of morality following a controversial relationship with a private mistress that has spilt all the beans about their sour love affair.
About two years ago, Pastor Nkundabandi had appeared on one of the local radio stations hosted during an evangelical program. After the talk-show, the pastor checked through his cell phone and reached for Usabyimbabazi Eugenie one of the members of Ebenezer church.
He called Eugenie and asked her to grab a moto-taxi and meet him immediately because he had an urgent revelation message from the almighty God.
“Before coming to Kigali I used to pray from ADPR church in our village. Later I joined Ebenezer church in Kigali,” Eugenie told Ibigwi online video channel. She is resident at Gisozi suburb of Kigali city.
One year later, Pastor Nkundabandi approached Eugenie and told her, “God has told me that we should have a child together. If you don’t respect what God has instructed us to do, you will be like Jonah that was swallowed by fish,” Eugenie calmly said with a hurtful feeling evident on her face.
According to the bible; God called Jonah one day and told him to go preach to Nineveh because the people were very wicked. Jonah hated this idea because Nineveh was one of Israel’s greatest enemies and Jonah wanted nothing to do with preaching to them!
Jonah tried to run away from God in the opposite direction of Nineveh and headed by boat to Tarshish. God sent a great storm upon the ship and the men decided Jonah was to blame so they threw him overboard. As soon as they tossed Jonah in the water, the storm stopped.
God sent a big fish to swallow Jonah and save him from drowning. While in the belly of the big fish, Jonah prayed to God for help, repented, and praised God. For three days Jonah sat in the belly of the fish. Then, God had the big fish vomit Jonah onto the shores of Nineveh.
Eugenie does not explain why Pastor Nkundabandi cited this scripture. “I believed him because he has been a pastor for many years,” she narrated.
“I remember he called me to meet him. I found him in his car parked on the road side near the popular kwa’Kanimba clinic in Kigali. I entered this red coloured car and we had sex from there,” Eugenie told Ibigwi reporter.
After the first sexual encounter, Eugenie explains that the pastor advised her to always meet him at his church office located in Kacyiru.
Asked whether there is a bed in the church office, Eugenie said, “he rolls mats on the floor in his office from where we repeatedly had sex together. I believe it is from there I got pregnant,” a hurting Eugenie explains.
Ever since Eugenie gave birth to a baby boy, the relationship between her and the pastor has escaped through the walls that previously shielded them from public. The story is currently doing rounds on social media.
“I went to his family with the little boy. I was welcomed by the pastor’s wife who was very kind and told me that she was aware of my husband’s child,” Eugenie narrates her ordeal , adding that Pastor Nkundabandi was not home.
“His wife told me he had travelled out of the country but i wondered how that could be possible under covid-19 measures in place,” Eugenie said.
Eugenie says she is a tailor but explains that her little income cannot meet all the needs of their child and the Pastor seems not interested in providing support.
