Kenya Launches Digital Economy Blue Print From Rwanda

Kenya is launching a blue print for its digital economy and is expected to be replicated in other countries across the continent.

Joe Mucheru the cabinet Secretary for Kenya’s ICT Ministry revealed during a roundtable hosted by World Bank on the sidelines of the ongoing Transform Africa Summit in Kigali.

Highlighted in this blue print concept, Kenya seeks to achieve a digital economy status through establishing; a digital government, digital business, infrastructure, Innovation driven Entrepreneurship and finally developing Digital Skills and Values.

Minister Mucheru shared the expectations, priorities, and challenges when moving digital transformation from vision to action at country, regional and continental level.

At the beginning of this year, Smart Africa Initiative chose Kenya to develop a blue print for digital economy in Africa, Principal Secretary for ICT Jerome Ochieng has said.

The choice of Kenya according to Smart Africa was hinged on the country’s the vibrant  ICT infrastructure,  the innovative  capabilities and the wealth of digital skills in Kenya.
