Kaspersky Lab specialists have discovered that a malicious Trojan has attacked over 11 million Android devices, Taarifa reports.
The Trojan can download modules to the smartphone that secretly display ads on it and click on them, install third-party applications on the phone, open arbitrary links in WebView.
In addition, based on the technical characteristics, the Trojan can probably issue paid subscriptions.
According to experts, the Trojan may have affected owners of more than 11 million Android devices in Russia, Brazil, Vietnam, Ecuador, and Mexico.
Among the applications on unofficial platforms where Necro was found are a modified Spotify Plus, a modified version of WhatsApp, and modifications of the games Minecraft, Stumble Guys, and Car Parking Multiplayer.
Experts clarified that Necro got into these applications as part of an unverified advertising module.
In early August, Kaspersky Lab discovered the LianSpy Trojan virus used for cyberespionage on Android devices.
According to experts, targeted espionage may have been carried out since 2021.
