Kamerhe Delivers Special Message From Tshisekedi to President Museveni

Vital Kamerhe the president of the national assembly in Democratic Republic of Congo was received Friday at State House in Entebbe by Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

According to Ugandan Presidency, Kamerhe delivered a special message from Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. The two discussed the security situation in eastern DRC.

The meeting is a continuation of a Congolese parliamentary mission that began on November 12, 2024, in Kampala.

According to Lambert Mende Omalanga, who headed the delegation, the mission initially aimed to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy with the Ugandan authorities, with no meeting planned with the Ugandan head of state.

Upon leaving Kinshasa, Mende said the delegation was to discuss trade, infrastructure and security agreements, including the joint military operation Shujaa, with Ugandan Parliament Speaker Anita Annet Among and members of the government.

On November 18, the ten Congolese national deputies were also received by President Museveni, who had approved the creation of a bilateral parliamentary friendship group to assess the implementation of economic integration and cross-border security projects.

A report was submitted to the National Assembly at the end of the mission, following working sessions with the Ugandan parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and Home Affairs committees.
