Kagame Unveils Rwanda’s Ambitious Development Agenda at Ngororero Campaign Rally

During a vibrant campaign rally in Ngororero District on Monday, June 24, President Paul Kagame, the Chairman and flagbearer of RPF-Inkotanyi, unveiled an ambitious development agenda for Rwanda, covering a broad spectrum of sectors.

The rally, attended by thousands of residents, highlighted the party’s commitment to fast-tracking Rwanda’s growth and progress over the next five years.

Transformative Infrastructure Projects

One of the key aspects of Kagame’s address was the announcement of significant infrastructure projects aimed at transforming Rwanda’s landscape.

The RPF-led coalition plans to construct and rehabilitate 1,091 kilometers of main roads and 1,626 kilometers of feeder roads.

Additionally, the party aims to build three ports on Lake Kivu in Rusizi, Karongi, and Rutsiro districts.

These projects are expected to enhance connectivity, boost trade, and spur economic growth in the region.

Boosting Agricultural and Manufacturing Productivity

Kagame emphasized the importance of increasing productivity in agriculture and manufacturing to drive economic development.

The RPF’s manifesto outlines a target to raise agricultural and livestock productivity by 8% annually and manufacturing productivity by 13% annually.

This focus on productivity aims to create 250,000 new jobs each year, contributing to Rwanda’s overall economic resilience and self-reliance.

Advancing Technology and Innovation

Advancing technology adoption, particularly enhancing the use of Artificial Intelligence, is a crucial component of Rwanda’s development strategy.

Kagame highlighted the need for embracing modern technology to improve various sectors, from agriculture to education.

By fostering innovation and technological advancement, Rwanda aims to position itself as a regional leader in the digital economy.

Positioning Rwanda as an Investment Destination

Kagame’s speech also touched on efforts to position Rwanda as an attractive investment destination and financial hub.

The ruling party aims to increase tourism revenue to $1.1 billion by 2029, up from $620 million in 2024.

Additionally, they plan to spur mineral revenue growth to $1.8 billion by 2029 from $1.1 billion in 2023. These targets reflect Rwanda’s commitment to diversifying its economy and enhancing its global economic footprint.

Emphasizing Self-Reliance in Development

Throughout his address, Kagame reiterated the importance of self-reliance in Rwanda’s development journey.

He called on Rwandans to prioritize improving their livelihoods with the resources available, while also leveraging external support when necessary.

This mindset of self-reliance is seen as a crucial element in driving sustainable development and reducing dependency on foreign aid.

Public Support and Security

Residents like Valerie Nyirahabineza praised Kagame’s leadership and commitment to securing and unifying Rwanda. She highlighted Kagame’s role in eliminating the threat posed by genocidal militias and extremists, affirming the community’s support for his re-election.

Such public endorsement underscores the trust and confidence that many Rwandans have in Kagame’s vision for the country.

As Rwanda heads towards the presidential and parliamentary elections on July 14-15, Kagame’s ambitious development agenda sets a clear roadmap for the future.

Kagame’s manifesto clearly squares out his opponents Frank Habineza of the Democratic Green Party and independent candidate Philippe Mpayimana.

RPF-Inkotanyi’s transformative infrastructure projects, boosting productivity, advancing technology, and positioning Rwanda as a key player in the global economy outmatches what the other candidates have promised to offer ao far.
