President Paul Kagame has reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and security, emphasizing self-reliance and ambition as the cornerstones of the country’s progress.
In his end-of-year message, President Kagame assured Rwandans that their independence would remain fully protected. “I want to assure you that Rwanda’s sovereignty and security will always be fully protected, by all means necessary,” he said.
He also addressed efforts to preserve the country’s historical integrity, rejecting any attempts to misrepresent Rwanda. “We will continue to stand for historical clarity regarding our situation, and will never accept to be painted as something we are not,” Kagame added.
The President highlighted the importance of self-investment as a driving force behind Rwanda’s development. “At the heart of Rwanda’s progress lies a simple but powerful truth: you cannot expect others to invest in you, if you do not invest in yourself,” he said.
Kagame encouraged citizens to aim high, stressing that ambition is not only achievable but necessary. “We take pride in aiming high, because that is possible and the best way to live our lives. In any case, it is well within our means and capabilities,” he stated.
In a special message to the youth, Kagame expressed confidence in their ability to build on the country’s achievements. “To our young people, we expect you to take Rwanda even further ahead, beyond what we have ever imagined,” he said.
The President’s message concludes a year of significant milestones for Rwanda and sets the tone for continued progress in 2025.
