FPR-Inkotanyi presidential candidate, Paul Kagame, has expressed his condolences to the families of two individuals who tragically lost their lives after being struck by a vehicle.
The incident occurred as they were en route to attend one of his campaign rallies in Huye.
Kagame, who is currently on the campaign trail in the Southern Province, began his tour in Huye District before moving on to Nyamagabe District.
Addressing the tragic incident, Kagame stated, “It is sad that these people died, and it could have been avoided.” He emphasized that while accidents are inevitable, preventable ones should be rigorously avoided.
This sorrowful news comes shortly after another fatal incident in Gisa, Rubavu District, where a person died in a stampede on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
During his speech in Huye, Kagame underscored the devastating impact of being a refugee, vowing that such a situation would never again befall Rwandans.
He shared personal experiences from his time as a refugee in Uganda, recalling visits to the University of Rwanda to see acquaintances.
Kagame, representing the FPR-Inkotanyi, assured the large crowd that Rwanda’s accomplishments must be safeguarded. He expressed confidence that the promises made during his campaign would be fulfilled through collective effort.
He also recounted an incident from a previous visit to the University of Rwanda, where a match between the army team Panthère Noire and Mukura Victory Sports ended in a brawl, which he condemned as inappropriate behavior.
Kagame’s campaign continues in Nyamagabe District, with an event scheduled at Nyagasenyi field in Gasaka Sector.
His rally in Huye drew an impressive crowd of 300,000 supporters.
