Kagame Holds Talks with Yonsei University on Academic Exchange and Capacity Building

President Paul Kagame on Tuesday afternoon received a delegation from South Korea’s Yonsei University at Urugwiro Village, with talks focusing on strengthening academic cooperation and research collaboration with Rwanda.

The delegation was led by Prof. Dong-Sup Yoon, President of Yonsei University, and included Dr. Won-Yong Lee, Executive Vice President for Research Affairs. Discussions centered on expanding partnerships in academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and capacity building in the education sector.

According to officials, the engagement reflects Rwanda’s broader strategy of working with leading global institutions to enhance higher education, research output, and skills development.

Yonsei University, one of South Korea’s top universities, has been exploring opportunities to deepen its engagement in Africa, with Rwanda seen as a strategic partner due to its focus on education, innovation, and knowledge-based development.

The meeting underscored the shared interest between Rwanda and Yonsei University in fostering long-term collaboration that supports human capital development and advances research and innovation.
